Narrative Dissonance by Mattias Elftorp
Finding out that the Earth was flat should have been a mind-bending, life-altering experience of unexpectedly finding youself on the edge, staring down into the abyss while everything you thought you knew about physics unraveled around you, not a bunch of idiots “figuring it out” by watching and making YouTube videos.
So there was a narrative dissonance between the subject matter and the actual experience, and a lot of people just couldn’t accept it. So when the Earth finally tipped over, no one was mentally prepared to deal with it.
Vision of how it all might end, from the After the Ends of the World 2 book.
